ArtStrand paperJAM

Fri, Jun 12 - Wed, Jul 1, 2013
Opening Friday June 12th, 6-9pm

Works by Edwin Dickinson, Haynes Ownby, Lillian Orlowsky, William Freed and Kenneth Stubbs appear courtesy of Acme Fine Art.

On Friday, June 12, artSTRAND launched the gallery's first-ever works on paper invitational, paperJAM, which features drawings, collage, and other art on paper from more than 70 artists. Please join us for an opening in the gallery from 6 - 9 p.m. to celebrate this exciting new exhibition, which will be on display through July 1.

The artists participating in paperJAM range from talented emerging artists who are not currently represented in Provincetown galleries to legendary 20th century art greats, several of whose work we are showing courtesy of Acme Fine Art in Boston.

The work of Edwin Dickinson, Lillian Orlowsky, William Freed, Haynes Ownby, Charles Littler, Kenneth Stubbs, Philip Malicoat, Henry Varnum Poor and Sidney Simon will hang alongside works on paper from dozens of contemporary artists, including Stephen Westfall, Mira Schor, Holly Hughes, Louise Hamlin, Edie Vonnegut, the nine artSTRAND artists, and many others.

A celebration of the process of drawing and working with paper as a creative act, a process, a search and a discovery, paperJAM is a survey of what is possible and what has been achieved in the world of artwork on paper, past and present. The artSTRAND members have focused on inviting emerging artists as well as established and historic artists to participate in the show, in keeping with the gallery's ongoing mission to present a diverse range of work to the community.
