Washington Artists Eligible for New Shows

[... paragraphs on other shows omitted ...]

The Artists Guild of Washington currently is presenting its ninth annual exhibition at American University. Most of the work is abstraction in tendency, reflecting the more advanced interests of the members. Robert Gates' "Sunflowers in the Snow" has unusual charm, and Adella's suavely carved standing figure nearby is one of the best of her pieces. Peter Blanc's "Striking Hawk" and the abstractions of Kenneth Stubbs and Jacob Kainen seemed to be among the most interesting and well-handled of the pictures in the exhibit.
